Kayaks of Alaska
Kayaks of Alaska presents the history and development of these vessels, and offers seventy-six scale drawings of historic kayaks, and ninety-one scale drawings of historic paddles, representing many different forms.
Author Harvey Golden also draws upon a multitude of earlier sources to analyze and contextualize the form, construction, function, influences, and evolution of kayaks.
To further understand these kayaks, Golden built and used 17 full-size replicas of examples documented in this book, and his experiences with each are presented.
Including 24 color plates. Heavily illustrated with historic images, diagrams, sketches (649 figures), and 78 scale drawings of kayaks, and 91 scale drawings of paddles in museums and private collections.
